Tiina Annus
I graduated from The University of Manchester in June 2011 with a BSc in Pharmacology and Physiology. Over the course of my undergraduate degree, I developed a strong interest in neuroscience and neuropharmacology, with a particular focus on dementia and Alzheimer's disease. I joined the CIDDRG in September 2011 as a Research Assistant. Since then, I have been working with Prof Tony Holland and Dr Shahid Zaman on a case-controlled, longitudinal project investigating the role of brain fibrillar beta-amyloid in cognition, brain atrophy and Alzheimer's disease in adults with Down Syndrome, using 11C-PiB PET and structural MRI.

I graduated from Durham University in 2009 with a degree in Psychology and then completed an MSc in Social and Cultural Psychology at The London School of Economics and Political Science. Since then, I have worked with young people with autism spectrum conditions and intellectual disabilities as well as well as older men and women with dementia. I joined the CIDDRG in 2011 and work on a multi-methods study examining how people with intellectual disabilities access general hospital services, with Professor Tony Holland and Dr Marcus Redley, and colleagues (Karen Thomson, Sara Jones, Louise Maris and Angela Thompson) at Cambridge University Hospitals Foundation Trust.

I graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2011 with a BA in Natural Sciences, specialising in experimental psychology. During my degree, I spent time in an NHS unit working with children presenting with a variety of emotional and behavioural difficulties. I joined the CIDDRG in 2011 and am working with Prof Tony Holland and Dr Howard Ring on a project assessing the safety, acceptability and efficacy of a novel intervention aiming to alleviate the hyperphagia exhibited in Prader-Willi Syndrome.

I am currently undertaking an MSc in Psychological Research Methods with the Open University. I joined the CIDDRG in July 2010 as a Research Assistant, working with the Adult Theme of the NIHR’s CLAHRC for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Following my graduation from the University of Durham in 2009 with a degree in Psychology, I completed an MSc in Neuroscience at Imperial College London. I am currently working on a research project at the CIDDRG alongside Tiina Annus, under the supervision of Professor Tony Holland and Dr. Shahid Zaman. In collaboration with our colleagues at the Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre (WBIC), we are using positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to investigate the role or beta-amyloid in Down Syndrome and Alzheimer’s Disease.
